Under Construction Project Update

We have been building this transitional home in The Canyons at Scenic Loop for almost a year now and we are weeks away from the client moving in. This gorgeous home boast lots of unique features and touches. This family will have a library with floor to ceiling shelves and a balcony above the library looking down. The only way to get into the balcony is through a spiral iron staircase….how quaint! The home also offers a master bedroom that has a shared fireplace with the master bath, a gym area with a gorgeous brick wall and an opposite mirrored wall, and a media room.

Check out some under construction pictures of the home below.

Here are a couple shots of the kitchen area and a close up of the granite and backsplash. We just love the choice of white cabinets with glass for this kitchen…so clean and crisp!

Great room ceiling treatments and lighting fixtures.

Here we just installed the carpet into the master closet and the media room. How beautiful is this carpet here?!?!

Lifestyle Update From The CKC Team

Summer is in full swing, and the CKC Custom Homes team definitely enjoyed the Fourth of July three-day weekend. There is no time for slowing down at the office, though! We have had some exciting developments and celebrations within the past month – both professional and personal – that we want to share with you.

We are excited to welcome to the CKC family the Guerreros! We are building them a transitional modern house in Anaqua Springs Ranch.

This month we also celebrated my birthday. The team was treated to lunch at The Grill at Leon Springs and Chuck treated us all to pedicures. There is nothing the CKC ladies love more than fresh pedicures.

Chuck and I spent the Fourth of July weekend at our lake house. We went swimming, paddle boarding, boating and tubing with the kids. We taught the kids how to knee board and ski as well. The whole weekend was spent relaxing in nature and being around family. Chuck loved grilling out on the fourth and setting off fireworks with the kids.

Brittany’s brother and sister-in-law paid her a visit over the weekend. Her brother is just a year older than she is, so they are definitely close. Brittany’s brother and his wife just got married last year, so she had plenty of fun doing couple activities with them all weekend. Brittany took them to McAllister Park and played Frisbee with her dogs Barley and Livvie, pictured below.kristal birthday the grill leon springs

Blane went up, up and away! She got the chance to ride in an airplane with her dad this weekend…how cool is that? The pair flew to Llano and had lunch together at her favorite BBQ spot, Copper’s BBQ. Blane loved it when her dad showed off his in-air tricks – they even went upside down.

Lifestyle Update From The CKC Team

This month has been a busy one at CKC Custom Homes so far. Our team has been working hard and staying involved at home, constantly trying to find that perfect work / life balance.

The weather is warming up, the sun is shinning and we couldn’t be more excited for summer. Here’s a quick recap highlighting what we have been up to in the past few weeks…

Par For The Course

David Rowe of Factory Builders Store took the entire CKC team out to play a few rounds of TopGolf – the indoor golfing experience was complete with a high-tech driving range and swanky lounge. We want to thank David for such an entertaining night. It was great to spend time with the team outside of work.

Blane and Charles both did well and Brittany scored a 15 – I think it’s safe to say she was more interested in the food and drinks than the golf! Chuck did the best, of course, considering he practices out at Briggs Ranch every weekend.

Chuck and Kristal

Chuck and I recently took the kids on a vacation to Mexico. It was so nice to get away for a little while and enjoy our family. The rest and relaxation was very much needed. We spent most of our time laying out on the beach and enjoying each other’s company, but we particularly loved taking the kids to all of the delicious, entertaining restaurants the resort had to offer. Berkley was also celebrating her birthday while we were in Mexico.

Brittany had her wisdom teeth taken out last week. It was her first surgery, so she was a bit nervous and dramatic to say the least. After it was all said and done, though, Brittany told us she really enjoyed being able to eat all of the ice cream she wanted with no judgments and having her husband wait on her hand and foot. Sounds nice! She sent me this picture right before the anesthesia was administered.

Check out this photo of our interior designer, Blane. She likes to keep up with what is trending (which is why she is such a great designer) and decided to dye her hair pink for the summer! We love it. What do you think?

Get to Know the Power Couple Behind CKC Custom Homes

CKC Founders Kristal and Chuck Powell

It’s said that “behind every successful man there is a great woman,” but for Charles (Chuck) Powell, founder of CKC Custom Homes, his great woman isn’t behind him; she is right beside him. Kristal Powell has worked alongside her husband as cofounder and interior designer of their successful custom home business since its inception in 2002. Kristal’s impeccable eye for design paired with Powell’s extensive background in construction and finance have enabled this powerhouse husband and wife team to rise to the top as leaders in the industry of custom home building.

To know that this thriving business was born simply because of a wife’s encouragement is to understand the reason behind Kristal and Chuck’s success. Powell confesses, “Kristal believed in me when no one else did.” He recalls, “I remember telling others about this idea of opening my own custom home-building company and the response I was usually met with was, ‘there’s too much risk,’ but Kristal had a different attitude; she saw it as ‘what do we have to lose?’” So with his wife’s blessing, Powell used their 50K in savings and cashed in his 401K to take a leap of faith starting his own business. Looking back, he agrees it was definitely a risk worth taking.

CKC Custom Homes has now evolved as a major competitor among custom homebuilders. The key to CKC successes, Chuck explained, is rooted in their partnership. Reflecting on the years, Powell admits he could not have done it without Kristal. A great team, both at work and at home, the Powell’s model a partnership that is admirable. “Our skills complement each other well,” Powell says. “Together, we have built CKC Custom Homes to what is today.”

A Message From The Powells

It has been a crazy and fun year so far at the Powell home. London is now 8 years old and playing basketball – she is absolutely loving it. Other than basketball, she loves taking care of her pets and says that she would like to be a veterinarian.

Berkley is now 5 years old and keeps us on our toes. She is playing basketball as well and having so much fun. She loves coming to work with us and says she would love to work at CKC.

Tres in now 2 years old and he loves spending time outdoors and doing all kinds of boy stuff, which is somewhat of a change for us, but we would not change it for one minute.

Our lives are crazy and fun with these 3 kids, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next.
