How did you find your passion for home building and design?
My passion started at a very early age. My mom used to take me to antique stores and we would shop for very unique pieces. I fell in love with the process of refurbishing and making the old new. Never in a million years would I think that I would meet my husband who was a home builder. We united and created CKC Custom Homes.
Where does your inspiration come from when you work on a project?
I am inspired by textiles. I absolutely love textiles that have anything from patterns to even simple linen.
What is your favorite part of the home building process?
My favorite part is bringing ideas from paper to real life. I love helping clients build their dream homes.
What is a challenge you’ve had to overcome?
Every day is a challenge, but our most recent challenge is finding materials, we have a shortage of materials so we are having to carefully execute every project in a timely manner.
What advice would you give to young adults wanting to go into design?
Try to get on-the-job training, I get so many designers who go to school then they come to work and they say nothing could have prepared them for the daily grind.
