What to Expect When Building a Custom Home

1. Vision & Discovery – Where Your Story Begins

Every great home begins with a conversation. We start your journey with a personal consultation to understand your goals, preferences, and lifestyle. We listen to your vision, how you live, what matters most, and what your ideal home feels like. Whether you already have architectural plans, need help selecting the perfect lot, or are starting from a blank slate, this foundational step ensures your dream home reflects your lifestyle and goals.

Private Consultation

Define your priorities, lifestyle needs, and design aspirations. Discuss budget and overall lot sizing, and timeline.

CKC Financials

Discuss the any loan approval processes that may be needed, while also determining an overall amount.

Lot Search & Analysis

Expert guidance to assess your site for build feasibility, optimum placement and topography.

Start Home Design

All expectations, costs, and goals are aligned with the budget and timeline. Contract approvals are are completed!

2. Design & Planning – Shape Your Vision into Reality

Once your goals are defined, our award-winning design team collaborates with you to shape every detail. From architectural layouts to interior aesthetics, we focus on thoughtful planning that balances beauty, function, and long-term value.

Interior & Finish Selection

This will be a series of appointments for decision makers to decide the look and feel of the home through design and finishing selections.

Final Plan Review

A finalization meeting to review any needed changes, updates, or modified specification before a final cost is estimated.

Final Budget Review

This meeting will be to look over any savings options, material and labor modifications, and draft the home's contract.

Banking Paperwork

After budget adjustments are in place, we will help you submit your contract to the bank and title company for approval.

Home Design Review

At this point in the process, you will have seen and felt the selection options and made your choices for your new home. This review will go over printed versions of the layout, finishing choices, and prep for ACC/HOA Submissions. A digital rendering will also be supplied for final approval.

3. Build & Craftsmanship – Precision at Every Stage

As construction begins, your dream starts to take physical form. Our skilled craftsmen bring decades of expertise to every phase of the build, ensuring structural integrity and elevated detail that lasts. With ongoing communication and real-time progress updates, you’re always informed and confident in the process.

Foundation

This is the beginning of the build. We will have a post-pour inspection and draining established before framing.

Framing

With framing underway, you will meet the landscape architect (optional) and see the planning for the driveway.

Electrical, Plumbing, and Inspections

There is a lot that goes into a house to make it functional. A/C, Plumbing, and Electrical are all critical steps that also require inspection and quality checks before the final masonry, drywall, insulation, and roofing can be completed.

4. The Details That Define Luxury

This is the stage where your home truly becomes yours. Every cabinet, lighting detail, millwork choice, and finish selection is an expression of your taste. Our design team coordinates selections to ensure cohesion, beauty, and high-end appeal throughout your home.

Custom Storage

Custom counters, storage, and shelving will begin to take shape for you to see in your new home. Staining and small details will begin to surface.

Tile and Countertops

Once the storage and cabinet structures are in place, you may begin to see a touch of your color selections added into the home.

Trims and Paint

Your paint selections and any wooden trims or finishes will be added into the interior along with the exterior. Color and personality will start to shine.

Designer Finishes

This is always the best part of the process. Designer lighting, hidden away nooks, and key selections will be installed before the final inspection.

Schedule Move-In

As the final touches come into place, we will work with you to determine a move-in date to ensure final inspections are completed. From there the landscaping and any custom functionalities of the home will be finalized. After one last coat of paint, your home will be ready for you!

5. Welcome Home – Exceptional Support After Move-In
